if i have a lump thats under the skin would i want to see a dermatologist or a doctor, like i cant really judge how deep under the skin, but do dermatoligsts deal with it if its in the skin period, anywhere on the body such as getting to the *** area haha. i dont want to go to a dermatologist and be like alright check out this lump on my *** and then feel like an idiot when it turns out they dont deal with that area haha.
Dermatologist or regular doctor?
You should just go to a regular doctor first. I'm sure a dermatologist can help with it also, but your regular doctor will be cheaper and will definately be able to help you. And don't stress yourself out about it. I'm sure it's just some kind of cyst. The doctor might give you an antibiotic and some ointment and ask him/her about what you can do if anything to prevent it from recurring. Google pilonidal cyst and see if that is what it is. I had a cyst on my finger and was reading up on cysts and remember reading about pilonidal cyst so check that out.
Dermatologist or regular doctor?
i think you should go to your regular physician first to make sure its nothing serious
Reply:You should see a dermatologist, because they do deal with lumps under the skin. Hope that helps. A regular doctor does it too. If it is a cyst they will pop it.
Reply:Dermatologist deal with skin consition. First, go to your regular doctor. If the lump still keeps coming back, go to a dermatologist.
Reply:you should go to the regular doc...if it is not in his scope of care he will referre you to a dermatologist
Reply:I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is a condition of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.
Here is a link :

If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.
Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.
There is some support groups at MSN
