For the past 2 years I've felt my wisdom tooth growing on both sides of my mouth at the back, the bottom ones. The left has never caused me a hitch but the right does every few months. There's a huge flap of skin on the back wisdom tooth. I can feel the tooth itself fairly grown out under this flap of skin.
Time to time again it gets infected and I can't eat with that side of my mouth, I'm guessing because food and such gets caught under the skin and there's no way to remove it.
Will this tooth ever break through? Or will I need to get surgery?
Wisdom tooth not growing properly?
I think it's time to see a dentist!
Wisdom tooth not growing properly?
You will need to get surgery if they aren't growing in properly. Don't wait any longer you need to see your dentist. If not you will have more problems with your wisdom tooth.
Reply:Sadly, wisdom teeth almost never grow out right, it seems. Most all adults have had them pulled.
In my case, they came in sideways, pointing almost straight forward against the back molars. I can relate to what you said. I could actually feel the teeth growing, because they kept putting more and more pressure on the back molars.
I was hoping for some way out of it, but I surrendered to having them pulled. It took a whole week's pay, but there seemed to be no choice. Looking back, I'm glad I got it done. Haven't missed them for a second.
Will the tooth ever break through? Answer: maybe. And it might cause even more trouble when it does. I've just got to recommend a visit to the dentist. Don't want to take chances with something that can mess up your mouth for life.
Reply:The reason why they have the wisdom teeth removal is because if they grow in wrong, they cause more problems to your mouth and other teeth then they are good. I would definately go see an orthodontist, not a dentist. the orthodontist could determine if this tooth is ruining the alignment of your other teeth, then I'm sure he or she could refer you to an excellent oral surgeon. Its almost inevitable that the teeth will need to be removed if they are causing infection and pain. Some people never have problems, where as people like you and me need them out. i have had them removed and its not all that bad. Good luck!
