Can anyone answer this please?

i have a long haired sheepdog she as some small little lumps under the skin behind 1 of her ears also she is bitting her legs taking little pieces fur of could this be mites under the skin or ticks.she is 4 years old and always in long grass in the fields
Can anyone answer this please?
Take her to the vet first thing .Get her de-flead and de-ticked by the vet to make sure .It certainly sounds as if it is fleas or ticks .Ticks can be dangerous as they pierce the animals skin with pincers and they suck the blood from the animal and grip the skin so they have be removed by a vet . If you pulled them off the pincers of the tick remain in the flesh and could cause abcesses

.pulling her fur out could be mites under the skin and this is another vet job with medicine for your dog. i hope this helps you , David
Can anyone answer this please?
yeah it sounds like fleas, mites or ticks have caused some kind of skin irritation. take her to the vet for a skin swab and they will be able to tell you exactly what it is and give you the correct medication.
Reply:Maybe cause she has mites mites more like I dont know take her to the vet...

Cassie
Reply:Sounds like fleas.
Reply:You can usually see the back end of ticks, the bit that fills up with blood. They are red/brown/grey in colour and about 0.5cm in length, they don't usually go completely under the skin.

Maybe she has been bitten whilst being in the fields and is causing her to itch til her fur comes out.

Take her to the vets and they will be able to do something for her. x
Reply:IT could also be mange if you have foxes nearby. My dog (golden retriever caught it) and he ended up biting his fur off in patches where it was sore. We took him to the vets who didn't know what it was so we took him to another vets who got the first vet in trouble!
Reply:the biteing of her paws my dog has the same problem and to be honest i cant see no ticks or fleas i had to run a bath wiv some salts in her feet was sore and raw flesh was showing we give her tablet for fleas/ticks so i dont think its that its a mystery to me 2 id love to find out what causes this
Reply:She needs an anti Histamine injection !if you dont she will tear herself to bits
Reply:sounds like fleas, check her and if she does have the you will need to bathe her in a flea shampoo the put on one spot, now it could be that shes allergic to grass i had a dog like that and he had to have antihistamine injections every summer
Reply:Could be grass seeds irritating her maybe dog want some

hair removed ? take to dog beauty parlor cost about 22 pounds.
Reply:sounds like your dog is a nutter
Reply:It might be flea allergies , my dog has them and if he gets bit by even one flea he will chew his hair out , He needs a good flea preventitive that keeps them from biting not just kills them after they bite and a cortizone shot will stop the itching, AS for the lump , it may be nothing but scare tissue from a cut or scratch my dog has one or it may be something else if you don't want to take him the the vet just keep a eye on it . If it doesn't change and is not bothering him it is probably nothing but keep an eye on it.

good luck!
Reply:You will see ticks as they are sesame seed shaped creatures which swell up with blood once the bug has had a good mouthful! (As it were)

Sounds more like an allergic reaction than mites.
Reply:it's fleas you should bring her to the vet for a checkup
Reply:HEYYY =Dx MY BOXER DOG HAD SOMETHiNG LiKE THiS HAPPEN TO HER NOT LONG AGO. WE WENT TO THE VET AND FOUND OUT SHE WAS BiTTE BY A SPIDER EVEN THOUGH WE LiVE iN SCOTLAND. APPARENTLY ALL SPiDERS HAVE FANGS BUT THEY ARE SO SMALL THAT iT DOESN'T AFFECT US BUT MY DOG SEEMED TO HAVE TAKEN AN ALLERGiC REACTiON TO THiS AND HAD TO GET TABLETS TO HELP HER GET BETTER =Dx
