I'm not sure this question goes under this category, but I can't seem to find a near-relevant sub-cat in Beauty and Style for 'concocting your own skincare'.
I read that agar-agar is used as both an emulsifier and stabilizer in cosmetics field for its gelling agent. So I bought some agar-agar powder and did some experiment today trying to bind some apple cider vinegar-dilluted water(I have no idea why I chose that. Just something at hand I guess) and grapeseed oil...aarrggh...it was disastrous. It end up a jelly cake with some leftover oil on top !!
How much to put, I mean the measurement / % for oil-in-water base?
Can it be use on water-in-oil base?
Any ideas?
Thanks !
How to use agar-agar as an emulsifier for homemade skin gel?
If you are really serious about making home made skin gel, I would perhaps mix it with Aloe. If you don't want a plant hanging around, health food stores sell Aloe gel. You also might want to tell them what you are doing and perhaps they will be able to help you find a base to mix the Agar in as well. When I say health food store, I mean the mom/pop type, not the retail chain/outlet type.

A chemistry experiment?
