What are those 1/2 moon things on your fingernails? I heard they are a way to tell if you are healthy or not..

I am not sure but I heard someone tell me that a Dr. can tell lots of things by looking at your fingernails ..That is why you can't have fingernail polish on for operations etc.. What does it mean if you don't even have any of those except on your thumbs..I mean those white cresant shape things by your finger nails...or do they mean just the color skin under the nails?

Well the white 1/2 moon things on your nails actually do serve as a purpose. They let you know if you are intaking enough calcium. If you do not have strong present 1/2 moons, then you need to drink more milk.

Those are calcium spots. Like you know you sometimes get them on your teeth? They're the same things,
Reply:those are a symptom that you have too much free time :)
Reply:The reason they ask you not to wear nail polish for operations is because physicians check to see fast your blood recirculates to the area. When you press on your nail, it turns white (the blood is being forced out of the area), when you release the pressure it turns pink again (this is the blood returning to the area). They sometimes put the E.T finger (I don't know the technical name) to check the patients oxygen saturation and if you have nail polish then it won't be able to read properly.
Reply:HEY Girl, I don't know where you come up with these questions ? but you always keep me wondering. I think I'm in love, just kidding KEEP questioning life it's a sign of intellect. OH I have no answer for you just another star...... see ya.
