What is the absolute best makeup to cover sun damage or rosacia?

I have fair skin but sunned a LOT as a teenager, back when spf's were still like "2" %26amp; "4" and nobody knew how much damage just sunning can do. I live in Florida and was use to the sun then, so my skin just tanned and the damage didn't show up until years later. Now I have broken blood vessels visable under the skin on my cheeks and nose, dark blotches in places along my side hairlines and jaw, and patches of redness on my throat and below my collar bone. Even with mineral makeups like Loreal Bare Naturales and Neutrogena Mineral Sheers it still takes way too much and even then is really difficult to cover the redness well enough to stop it showing through in the first place, much stay covered more than 20 minutes, if I'm lucky. Can anyone who also has bad or extensive skin damage to cover, **please** recommend a foundation - even by perscription if one is necessary - that will cover well enough to make my complexion actually look even and normal but still blend with fair skin?

I share your pain. I also soaked up the sun in my younger days and am paying the price now. My Dermatologist said there is not much you can do but cover it up with makeup. I found REVLON ColorStay and it works Great! It covers up skin damage like you would not believe! It also has an SPF in it. I too live in Florida and have two small children so I am always out in the sun. This stuff does not melt off or steak. I also use the REVLON ColorStay Sport when I'm out in the pool or water skiing. It has lighter coverage but a higher SPF and stays put all day long. Highly recommend these products. I had three separate surgeries remove skin cancer on my face from sun damage and you can not even see the scars when I wear this makeup. Good Luck!

I'd honestly recommend seeing a dermotologist.
Reply:I want to see what some answers are- my friend is in need of some help.
Reply:I think Bare Essentials is GREAT makeup for redness. There are Bare Essential stores or you can search online. It makes your skin look flawless.
Reply:I have a huge strawberry birthmark on the right side of my face from my eye to the top of my lip. It has always been difficult to conceal it. With regular foundations I looked plastic and when it rubbed off it looked funny. I found a great mineral makeup that stays on all day and blends my birthmark to look normal. Check it out @ www.angelfaceminerals.com
Reply:This are a couple old remedies that will definitely help the appearance of your face... they are called Kroger Bag or Ski Mask

Reply:First off you really need to see a dermatologist for the possible Rosacia. There are alot of new and great treatments out there for it. Secondly, it is possible to reverse some of that sun damage. Go to your nearest Elizabeth Arden counter and get Prevage by Arden and Allergan. It will actually reverse your damage. However you will have to use a SPF product during the daytime, to protect against further damage. The only downside is that Prevage is $150, but it really does work if you use it once a day. Ive used it for 2 years and I'm quite fair and its really gotten rid of alot of my redness. It was only sold in dermatologists offices until 2 years ago, and it more expensive then. Also you can use it on your throat and upper chest for that damage as well.

If you need an SPF lotion, Lancome has just come out with a new one which also stops the sun rays which cause aging. Its SPF 20, and you can use it under makeup. It feels good on as well.

For foundation, try Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra. It covers alot and doesn't feel heavy. Top your foundation with a powder foundation for even more coverage. Try Dual Finish from Lancome or Arden's Dual Perfection powder foundation. If you still find you still need more coverage, you can try Estee Lauder's Maximum Coverage foundation. The only downside is that it will feel heavy on, but it will cover even most tattoos. Those mineral foundations just don't cover like liquids do so if i were you I would quit using those.

The thing is that depending on how much damage you actually have, some of it may never completely go away. The makeup and Prevage should help though. The important thing is that you use an SPF daily to stop any further damage to your skin. Just be careful, there is also alot of bad advice and bad products online. If you ever have a question in regards to a product or treatment always consult a dermatologist!
